Is high-speed home Internet access available? How long does it typically take to install it after arrival?
Most residences now have access to Fiber internet that allows multiple people to stream at pretty high speeds. Some outages but not very often. Costs about $100 a month so about the same as a similar service in the U.S. Many have commented it is the fastest internet they have ever had in the developing world and even compared to some Western countries. - Jan 2023
Internet was available when we arrived. We have had some issues but the Embassy has helped facilitate quick troubleshooting and repair. Streaming is generally ok but there will be pauses and delays. Most of the country is on 3G but some major providers are in the process of upgrading to 4G. - Aug 2021
Yes, but nothing is reliable, and everything takes a decent amount of time. - Aug 2021
High-speed home internet access is available ,but is sporadic on occasion. Still, many stream movies online and manage alright. It takes a week or two to upgrade the connection but most residences are already hooked up upon arrival. - Sep 2020
Internet speed can vary regardless of the package you have. Some days we can stream movies, while other days the signal is even too weak for a Skype phone call. - Apr 2019
The internet is much better than I thought it would be, although the speed can fluctuate. Sometimes I can download a 50 minute TV show on iTunes in 45 minutes, sometimes it will take several hours. Skype works OK for video chats, and my Vonage phone line is pretty clear. - May 2016
About US$120 per month, through the Embassy. - Dec 2015
Yes. Internet is expensive and the service terrible. - Apr 2014
