Is high-speed home Internet access available? How long does it typically take to install it after arrival?
Internet is usually pretty good. Ask your sponsor to help you install it. It can take awhile to get it up and running. - Mar 2023
It's expensive. Tigo and Claro are the two companies. For the fastest internet speeds, you're looking at about $150 USD per month. For phones, the best, highest plans cost around $25 per month. Electricity and the internet do drop out from time to time but it's really not that bad, and it's rare for it to last more than an hour or two. - Oct 2022
Yes, the internet is fine. I work remotely successfully with lots of video calls. - Oct 2022
High-speed internet is not a problem here. You have two providers Claro and Tigo. Tigo seems to be more problematic in areas like Cayala, but Claro is the one we have and we have not had any issues. You can have it installed within two weeks of arriving which is the only part that might take a while. You also cannot pay your bill online or set up automatic payments unless you have a debit card from a local bank. - Jul 2021
Yes, though it can be a bit tricky to get installed. Once you have it, it's fairly reliable and high-speed though. - Jan 2020
"High speed" is debatable, but the internet access here through either Claro or Tigo (the two largest internet companies) is fast enough to watch Netflix. It took us weeks to get it installed, weeks for repairs every time there was a problem, and our speeds are never even approaching the speed we've paid for, but it gets the job done. The walls of all of the residences in our community are concrete, so Wifi signals have a very difficult time reaching the whole house. Even with a Wifi extender, we still have dead spots. Choose the location of your desktop computer wisely. - Mar 2019
Yes, available. Occasional spotty service. Installation within short time/quickly. - Feb 2019
Yes, the internet is comparable to what I had in the U.S. The cable/phone/internet plan that I have is fast enough for skype and to stream music and video smoothly and costs about US$85/month. - Jun 2015

Yes. Claro offers a voice-data-cable TV package for about US$60 a month. - Jan 2014
Yes, there are a number of providers for around $40 and up. - Nov 2011
Same as above. - May 2010
Yes, although it can be unreliable. I think it's about US$60 a month or so for the fastest service. - Mar 2008
