Do you have any recommendations regarding mobile phones? Did you keep your home-country plan or use a local provider?
EVERYONE has one. It is hard to get one without signing a one year contract. They have English phones with guides, but it may be a hassle getting one without speaking Japanese. Try getting one near Tenjin or Hakata and they can find someone who speaks English. - Jan 2007
