Rome - Post Report Question and Answers

What household or grocery items do you wish you had shipped to post?

Giant box of plastic forks, knives, spoons. Paper plates, better napkins. If you have access to the NEX, you'll be set, but getting stuff like good parchment paper, wax paper, aluminium foil, just isn't the same. - Aug 2024

I didn't find a need to ship anything, you can find everything here. - Sep 2022

Almost everything is available here, just depends on how much you want to pay for it and how much effort you want to put in to get it (peanut butter, maple syrup). Bring toiletry items you like such as anti-perspirant and toothpaste. - Oct 2014

I can't think of anything you can't get locally or online via amazon.com or ebay or the like. - May 2013

I should have shipped my mountain bike (for Villa Borghese, Villa Ada, etc). I'm glad I shipped my assortment of water guns. - Apr 2012

Carpets. The apartments have wood and marble floors that are cold and noisy. I'd like to buy carpets for the people upstairs, too. - Aug 2010

Bring lots of summer clothes, fans for the heat, and rain gear for the rain. Bring sporting equipment and English books since the selection isn't as wide here. - Apr 2009

Between Amazon, the internet, the APO, Netflix and the commisaries, we can get anything we need here. EXCEPT: Fun craft supplies for the kids, and yourself if you are an arts & crafts enthusiast. I never find that stuff on the local economy or on the base. - Feb 2008

If we can't get it in Rome we can get it at the naval commissary. Life is good. - Feb 2008
