Cape Town - Post Report Question and Answers
How do you send and receive your letters and package mail? Are local postal facilities adequate?
Diplomatic pouch, mostly. I also used Postnet sometimes for local stuff. Postnet is a local express courier service and they usually get stuff across the country within a day or two for a pretty cheap price. - Aug 2021
Pouch only. - Apr 2021
We try to avoid the SA Post Office. Local courier services are available for important documents, and to send overseas, the local copy/shipping shops have a system of couriering to the UK and then using the UK post to final destination. - Feb 2018
We do almost all mailing through the pouch. DHL is available locally but is expensive and, depending on where you're mailing to, can take a while. - Oct 2017
Packages and letters come through the pouch. No APO. - May 2014
We use the pouch and it take 3-4 weeks. You can use a FedEx or DHL local office to get stuff back to the U.S., but it is pricey. - Aug 2013
Rent a PO Box or have mail delivered to your home address. A letter could take 7 days from USA or 4 weeks. - Oct 2007
