Are qualified veterinarians and/or good kennel services available? Do animals need to be quarantined upon entry to the country? Are there other considerations regarding pets that are particular to this country?

We have a good vet in Steenberg, and there are plenty of good vets as many Capetonians keep pets. Cats and small dogs do not need be be quarantined upon entry as long their shots and microchips are in order. I think some bigger dogs do have to be quarantined. Many locals allow their dogs and cats to roam outside without supervision, and leash laws are often not followed. - Oct 2017
No, but they will have to come air-cargo, which is expensive!! And South Africa requires a mound of paperwork to get your dog here. - Aug 2013
