What is the availability of international schools? What has been your general experience with them, if any?
The American International School of Cape Town is in the Southern Suburbs. I have met some of the faculty there. Colleagues with kids there seem satisfied. - Aug 2021
American International School of Cape Town (AISCT) is the top choice for consulate families. My young kids love it and the availability of activities (pre-Covid). The high school is small and there is a lot of parties. - Apr 2021
Our children attend local schools of exceptional quality - far better than the international schools from what we've been able to gather from friends. If you're not adverse to a Southern Hemisphere school year (Jan-Dec), you should definitely consider some of the top local schools. There are two smallish international schools, one of which is generally British (ISCT) and one American (AISCT). Anecdotally, AISCT has more "international" students and ISCT has a better academic reputation. - Feb 2018
I don't have kids but I know that that several families I'm familiar with send their kids to the American International School of Cape Town. There are also a number of local private schools that might appeal to some families. - Oct 2017

Most Consulate students attend the American International School of Cape Town (www.AISCT.org). It has about 350 students in K-12 and a preschool program. Average class size is 12. Instruction is in English and they offer a choice of French or Spanish as a second-language, starting in first grade. The school is located on a lovely piece of property that was an old wine estate, then a convent school, now AISCT. There is a pool, tennis court, basketball court and lots of "running" room. - Aug 2013
