What have been the highlights of your time in this country? Best trips or experiences?
A boat trip on Lake Como, seeing guests' eyes light up when they first approach the Duomo, the flowering trees in springtime, and eating gelato way too often. And every time I come "home," I'm delighted to be back in the country of €1 café around every corner. - Jun 2018
Trips to the lakes are always great and easily done! Lago di Como is an easy 1hr train nride from Milan. Italy is like one huge open air museum. And if that's not enough, cheap flights out can be found via ryanair, eurojet and other lowcost carriers - Sep 2016
Venice, Rome, Switzerland, Sardegna, Naples, Verona, the Italian Riviera, etc., etc., etc. Lots and lots of good day trips from Milan. The numerous lakes and the Alps are a short drive or train ride (1 hour to 1.5 hours). The mountain and lake areas are breathtaking, affordable, and easy. - Aug 2013
