Milan - Post Report Question and Answers
What is the air quality like at post (good/moderate/bad)? Are there seasonal air quality issues? Does the air quality have an impact on health?
There are some bad days here when the smog just settles in over the city. I was expecting it to be worse than it is. I notice the air quality maybe once or twice a month, or if it hasn't rained in a while. - Jun 2018
See above! Milan is like a bowl and the air sits until strong winds blow everything out, or it rains. Summer gets really bad with heat and humidity but no rain for weeks. And everyone smokes it seems. You'll find yourself walking behind people smoking or just through wads of smoke from people standing in the street smoking. - Sep 2016
It is an urban environment, so you do have some smog. Milan is surrounded by mountains, so that traps some of the air pollution and keeps it in the city. But really, it is not a big deal. Comparable to a large U.S. city; very similar to DC. - Aug 2013
