What kinds of gyms or other sports/workout facilities are available? Are they expensive?

As far as I know all the embassy housing has workout facilities, but the quality varies. There's a gym at the embassy with a variety of fitness classes. The shopping center near the embassy has a large modern gym with a huge pool, and membership is included with certain embassy housing as it's owned by the same company. - Nov 2021

There is a really good Embassy gym with a basketball court. The housing compounds all have gyms but they aren't as well equipped and I've been told there are two CrossFit boxes near the Embassy. - Nov 2020

Many gyms are still not allowed to reopen, but the Embassy has a nice 24/7 facility for employees. A few neighborhood compounds have their own workout spaces, but these are subject to local health guidelines. All school sports, extracurricular activities, etc., are cancelled for the foreseeable future. - Aug 2020

Plenty of options, plus there is a nice gym at the embassy. - Jul 2020

There is a gym at the embassy. Most housing compounds/apartment buildings also have gyms. This is great because you really can't (and shouldn't) exercise outside due to the air quality. - Jul 2014

Yes, most of the high-end expat buildings have these. There are some private clubs as well, but beware--these sometimes go out of business with little or no notice, even if you just paid your annual fee yesterday. In cash, of course, because that is how you pay for everything here. Sue? Hm, maybe you can try, good luck with that. - Jan 2011

Most housing compounds have small facilities. Pools, too. You have to work out inside most days because of the air quality. - Apr 2010

Plenty of private healthclubs. - Jan 2010
