What volunteer opportunities are available locally?
Volunteer opportunities abound in South Africa, although it’s best to do your due diligence (for safety and security reasons) before you join any organization or attend certain events. The Consulate always seems to have a lot of volunteer opportunities available working with CLO, GSO or Consular, although at larger posts these roles would normally be paid EFM positions. - Aug 2022
"Gift of the Givers" is one of the best-run volunteer organizations in the world. It has a better reputation than the government, so when things are urgently needed (like a hospital loses access to water - yes, that happened), they spring into action and it's solved within days. They were the primary care provider during a number of crises (riots in 2021, floods in 2022), again trusted before the government. For anyone looking to volunteer, look no further. - Jun 2022
