Hermosillo - Post Report Question and Answers

What have been the highlights of your time in this country? Best trips or experiences?

Mexico has a rich culture and a diverse topography. It's been truly a joy traveling around the country. Mexico City, La Paz, and Queretaro have been my favorite places so far. - Sep 2024

Proximity to the US is a big plus, especially if you have family in the west. We are in this nice spot where we are close enough to the border to take advantage of it with dealing with the challenging aspects of an actual border post. Learning a language and making local friends has been a fun and exciting part for me. - Jun 2023

Food. Amazing Mexican colleagues. Travel around Mexico. San Carlos. Important work with a very talented team. - Sep 2022

I've enjoyed hiking, going to the beach and the proximity to Arizona and the hiking options there as well. - Sep 2022

The Bahia Kino beach is 1.5 hours away and has one popular seafood restaurant. There is also another beach in San Carlos but it is currently rife with cartel violence. It is EXTREMELY difficult to easily leave this city for destinations other than AZ, TX, and Mexico City. R&R allowance is a flight to TX, which means that it is only adequate for U.S. flights, and one must fly from Hermosillo. It takes no fewer than two, often three or more flights to get anywhere else. - Aug 2022

Nice housing. Easy living. Easy access to the U.S., which is both a positive and an interesting negative in terms of people getting to see on a regular basis what they're missing in terms of parks and supermarkets. Easy access to the Sea of Cortez, which is lovely and warm! - Aug 2015

Some might not view this as a highlight, but it has been great to enjoy this part of Mexico and also have easy access to the U.S., specifically Tucson. Being from New England, we had not explored the American southwest, and we've loved it. I would also list as a highlight the friends we have made here and our experience with the preschool community. - Apr 2013
