Tijuana - Post Report Question and Answers

What typical restaurants, food delivery services, and/or takeout options are popular among expatriates?

Didi and Uber Eats deliver but this town is a foodie- paradise so there are restaurants within walking distance of all housing. Vegetarian and pescatarians will find this an easy city. - Oct 2024

I used Uber Eats often. Too many restaurants and experiences to list here. You can find excellent Mexican food/excellent seafood. Tijuana has become a venerable foodie paradise with all kinds of cool trendy restaurants. One can eat a pretty nice meal that will be half the cost of a comparable meal in the U.S. There is a dearth, however, of good Asian and other world cuisines, but San Diego has outstanding authentic Asian food, as well as a pretty wide variety of cuisines from all over the world. Whenever we were craving Thai or Japanese food we would just pop-over to San Diego. - Apr 2023

Tacos are king in TJ, but ceviche, tortas (sandwiches), pizza, ramen, etc. are available and at about 50% of San Diego restaurant prices. Many restaurants deliver, but Uber Eats is also in TJ. Food truck parks are popular and allow you to sample lots of different types of food in one place - they're also great for groups. No one I've talked to has complained about the food here. - Nov 2017

All you can handle. From you classic chicken and pizza to really great fresh seafood tacos. - May 2015

Tijuana has lots of options for street tacos, mid-range dining, and nice restaurants, all at comparably cheaper prices than in San Diego. - Apr 2011

Fast food here is a taco stand or a torta (Mexican sandwich). You can't go wrong with food here. It is amazing and costs about 30% less than in San Diego. - Mar 2011

You usual U.S. chains (McDonald's, Burger King, Carls Jr., Wendys, Subway) are here. Also, did I mention that San Diego, CA is nearby? - Dec 2010

EVERYTHING! The cost is slightly cheaper than the US. - Aug 2010

All you want both in TJ and north of the border. - Mar 2008
