Take every opportunity to explore the country and get out of Managua. Do your best to befriend Nicaraguans as they are a very kind and generous people. They love their country and want to share it with you. There has been a long history between the U.S. and Nicaragua; get to know that history and ask Nicaraguans about it. - Apr 2018
This can be a tough post for stay-at-home moms or spouses without full-time employment. Managua has little to offer and it can be difficult to fill your days. However, there is a lot of opportunity for volunteer work and potential for adventure. Attitude is everything. - Mar 2012
The country is beautiful but expensive given the economic situation of most Nicaraguans. Like one poster here said, it's an easy hard post. It's a great place to visit but living here is another matter. Half the time you feel you are not really welcome.
