Vilnius - Post Report Question and Answers

What kinds of gyms or other sports/workout facilities are available? Are they expensive?

Gyms are not widely available at all and are small and crowded. I go to a small gym, which has everything I need for three years here, but the trainers are nasty and mean. The service industry overall in this country is not like US standards; Lithuanians are so annoyed to help you. The Embassy gym stinks and does not have great air conditioning. It is small with three treadmills, one usually broken, and 1 squat rack. - Aug 2023

Gyms are small but have everything you need. They can range from 300-360 EUR/year. Embassy gym is small and inadequate. - Dec 2022

Very nice gyms, indoor swimming pools, very similar to the States. - Feb 2021

Impuls membership costs 50 euro per month. This is the best gym money can buy, except if you do the ultra exclusive Forum, which costs several hundred euro a month. - Sep 2020

Impuls Gym is very good. Cost is about 60 Euros a month. Gym has everything you'd like and multiple locations. - Oct 2019

The U.S. embassy has a very small gym and a tiny pool. There are some gyms in town but none in my neighborhood so I don't know the details. Most people get exercise by walking and running, both of which are safe and easy here. - Mar 2017

Plenty of gyms (from cheap to really spendy), great city for running (not so much in the winter), a little difficult to find places for serious lap swimming. - Aug 2015

There is a small embassy gym and pool, and there are several gyms around the city that are fairly well equipped and quite inexpensive by US standards. - Jun 2013

Yes. There are facilities close to the embassy, and the embassy itself has a small gym. Other, more luxurious, gyms are also available. - Feb 2011

Yes, but they are quite expensive. A mid-sized gym that is favored by embassy employees costs about USD 70 per month. Nicer gyms with bigger facilities can cost more than that. - May 2009
