Absolutely not, at least not in any sort of an overt way. If you do not display it in any way, then there would be no issues, but here it is against the local religious views and I think LGBT expats would have a very hard time. It is not unheard of though. - Aug 2017

Surprisingly, not bad. There is no visible gay community, though we heard there is an underground one, including at least one gay bar (a drag bar), but we never tapped into it. Omanis are very live-and-let-live and really don't care much about what others do behind closed doors. - Jan 2010
As of 2008, the post is extremely supportive of non-traditional families. One Member-of-Household recently found an Embassy job. There is no local gay community but it's possible to develop an extended circle of expatriate and even Omani friends and acquaintances. - Feb 2008
