How much of the local language do you need for daily living? Are local language classes/tutors available and affordable?
It is essential. Additionally, the Pernambucan dialect can be nearly incomprehensible. I once went to a mechanic and I could not even tell what language he was speaking. I went to another one: I understood every word he said. Some of our Consular officers develop a real knack for Pernambucano. - Aug 2020
