What is the relative size of the expatriate community? How would you describe overall morale among expatriates?
Except for diplomatic events, we did not interact with the expat community. - Apr 2021
Poor, not many things to do small community. - Apr 2021
Expats tend to support each other, so the morale is high, but the jobs here are very demanding and can rob you of personal/family time if you don't have a sustainable work/life balance and good self-maintenance plan. Those of us with diplomatic car plates can avoid the lines of frequent police traffic stops. - Jul 2020
The expat community is relatively small. Most U.S. citizens either work at the embassy or for a U.S. oil company. Morale is good among expats. - Aug 2017
The Embassy community is small but the expat community is quite large due to the presence of oil companies, construction, etc. Morale is a mixed bag. I'd say this isn't the happiest post but also not the worst. - Sep 2014
Word has it that there are around 400-500 Americans working at the oil companies. There are also hundreds of Lebanese, hundreds, if not thousands of Chinese, and a small diplomatic community. - Jun 2012
