Is it easy to make friends with locals here? Are there any prejudices or any ethnic groups who might feel uncomfortable here?
Panamanians aren't the most extroverted or friendly at first, but there are very nice people to meet here. Get out of your comfort zone and learn about their history so you don't ask silly questions. The US presence (or was it occupation) is a thorny issue, but there is no anti-US sentiment here. The invasion in 1989 was a show of force that left a scar in the lives of many families that still do not know of the whereabouts of their loved ones. - Dec 2021
