What volunteer opportunities are available locally?

There are a lot of volunteer opportunities, from children's homes to women's issues to sports coaching opportunities to environmental issues -- if you can think of it, it's probably here. That said, as I write this, we're only allowed to travel within (I think) ten miles of the Embassy, so some of the things you want to do may actually be outside our circle. - Jun 2024

This is tough. There are so many local needs and so few organized efforts to help. The expat community is currently trying to develop more but it's hard to say if any of that would be available when you arrive. - May 2014
