If a USG employee allowed a consumables shipment, ship absolutely everything-- personal care items, cleaning supplies, and every food you might want to eat. If you have a special diet, this might not be the place for you. - Nov 2014

The commissary here does not sell anything, so bring anything you want/need. Birthday presents if your kids are the age where they'll be invited. Printer ink, spaghetti sauce, cheddar cheese (freeze it and put it in your checked luggage), anything electronic, vanilla (almost impossible to find it here). - Mar 2011

The misguided economic polices of the Chavez regime have virtually killed off any local industry, and the country lives on imports. If there is a crisis or shortage, you can go months without finding staples: milk, meat, chicken, toilet paper, medication. I would have shipped lots of toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning materials. - Nov 2008
