Oslo - Post Report Question and Answers

Are qualified veterinarians and/or good kennel services available? Do animals need to be quarantined upon entry to the country? Are there other considerations regarding pets that are particular to this country?

Yes, but vet services are very expensive. A friend's dog broke his leg and it was around $6000. We got pet insurance but can't speak to how good or not it is because we haven't had any large vet bills. - Dec 2022

No pet shops here as you buy from people directly only. - May 2021

No quarantine, but you need to have done your homework well in advance (following a calendar for shots, for example). Quality care is available, but expensive. - Dec 2015

Cats and (especially) dogs are loved here. Dogs are extremely well-trained and often off leash without a single issue. They are welcomed on public transportation and outdoor seating at restaurants and cafes. The quality of care is just as high as the U.S., although much more expensive and I have heard that pet insurance is not offered here. - Jun 2015

I think so, but the rules have recently changed -- so one should check. - Aug 2011
