ASD is a college preparatory school and the standards based grading model in the high school is similar to what students can expect in the university setting (midterm/final with few, if any, grades for homework). AP students will have a mock AP exam as well as the full subject AP exam through CollegeBoard. There is an additional testing fee required to take the AP exams. IB program is also offered, it is important to note that the IB program is a two year course of study, so families should not choose this program if their student will not be attending ASD for both years. ASD is somewhat rigid with their high school course requirements. Parents should request an evaluation of their students' transcripts and review the course prerequisites and graduation requirements prior to enrolling. - Sep 2023
Yes, rigorous curriculum and nearly all students move onto university. If your child isn't so academically inclined, they can still do well here, but ASD caters more to those heading onto university -- so if your child is not university-bound, they might find it harder to find suitable classes of interest. There aren't any real tracks for students heading into the workforce directly or interested in trade schools, etc. - Apr 2022
No. Elementary is a great school for above average kids who are not too far above average. Nothing good for gifted or even high achievers. Those who are behind receive some support, but nothing specialized or geared towards students with genuine learning differences or disabilities. - Jul 2019
